This piece of conceptual art by Michael Gibbs illustrates the balance of rich and poor within social classes. As we can see from the illustration, our two characters are balancing in the air on tight ropes, which are being held by the other. The heavier character--who projects wealth signified by his stance, his cigar, and his ability to afford more food—is held by the smaller, weaker of the two, whose leaning stance indicates the difficulty in trying to hold the larger. While it is difficult for me to choose a favorite piece of conceptual illustration, I felt this piece to be a good example of it as it signifies so much with so little illustration.
